Why we are private pay

Family Life Resources is a private-pay practice by choice, because it lets us put your care first. When insurance is involved, an insurer often decides what counts as treatment — requiring a formal mental-health diagnosis on your record, limiting the number of sessions it will approve, and restricting the type of treatment you can receive. Private pay removes those limits.

Working outside of insurance means we answer to you, not to a third party. You and your counselor decide together how often to meet and what to work on, for exactly as long as it serves you. Many clients also value the greater privacy, flexibility, and continuity this allows — your story stays between you and your counselor.

Do you accept insurance?

We do not bill insurance directly. Instead, we provide a superbill on request — an itemized receipt that documents your sessions, fees, and standard service codes. You can submit this to your insurance company to seek possible out-of-network reimbursement.

Whether you are reimbursed, and how much, depends entirely on your individual plan. We recommend calling the number on the back of your insurance card and asking a few simple questions: Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits? What is my out-of-network deductible, and has it been met? What percentage of the fee will be reimbursed? The answers will give you a clear picture of your potential costs.

Payment methods

We make paying for your sessions easy and secure. We accept:

  • Credit card
  • Debit card
  • Health Savings Account (HSA) card
  • Flexible Spending Account (FSA) card

You can pay securely online at any time, or take care of payment at the time of your appointment. If you have questions about which method works best for you, just reach out and we will help.

Good Faith Estimate & the No Surprises Act

Under the federal No Surprises Act, clients who are uninsured or who are not using insurance are entitled to a Good Faith Estimate of the expected cost of their care. This is a written, up-front estimate of the services you may receive and what they will cost. We are glad to provide one on request, so there are never any financial surprises as you begin your work with us.

Cancellations

We understand that life happens and schedules change. We keep our cancellation policy simple and reasonable; we will go over the details with you during your consultation so everything is clear before your first session.

Frequently Asked Questions

We do not bill insurance directly. Family Life Resources is a private-pay practice, which means you pay for your session at the time of service. A superbill is an itemized receipt that documents the services you received, including dates, fees, and standard service codes. You submit it to your insurance company, and if your plan includes out-of-network mental health benefits, the insurer may reimburse you for a portion of the cost. Reimbursement is between you and your insurer.
Yes. We accept Health Savings Account (HSA) and Flexible Spending Account (FSA) cards, along with credit and debit cards. Counseling is typically an eligible expense, though you may want to confirm the details with your HSA or FSA administrator.
Private pay lets us focus entirely on your care rather than on insurance limits. There is no required mental-health diagnosis on file, no cap on the number of sessions an insurer will approve, and no restriction on the type of treatment you receive. Many clients value the added privacy, flexibility, and continuity this allows.
You can pay securely online with a credit card, debit card, HSA, or FSA card through our Pay Online page, or take care of payment at the time of your appointment. We will walk you through the simple details at your first session.
