Counseling that honors your faith
For many people, faith isn't a separate corner of life — it shapes how they understand suffering, hope, relationships, and meaning. At Family Life Resources, Christian counseling means you don't have to leave that part of yourself at the door. When you want it, we can integrate prayer, Scripture, and your spiritual values directly into the work we do together. For some clients that looks like opening a session in prayer or reflecting on a passage that speaks to what they're carrying. For others, it simply means sitting with a counselor in Raleigh who shares their worldview and respects what they believe. You decide how present faith is in the room, and you're free to adjust that at any point.
Christian counseling and licensed clinical counseling — together
People often assume they have to choose: faith-based support on one side, professional clinical therapy on the other. We don't see it that way, and we don't ask you to. Licensed clinical counseling uses evidence-based methods to address real concerns like anxiety, depression, and grief. Christian counseling brings your faith into that process. Here, you receive both at once — care that is licensed, clinically sound, and grounded in proven approaches, and also faith-informed when that's what you're looking for.
- Licensed, evidence-based clinical care from a fully credentialed counselor
- Faith integration — prayer, Scripture, spiritual reflection — offered only when you want it
- A safe space to explore doubt, guilt, forgiveness, purpose, or grief through a spiritual lens
- No pressure, no judgment, and no agenda imposed on your beliefs
Who this is for
This kind of counseling is a good fit if you're a Christian who wants your faith taken seriously rather than sidelined — someone who would like their counselor to understand the spiritual dimension of what they're going through. It's also for people who are wrestling honestly with hard questions: lingering guilt, the struggle to forgive someone or themselves, doubt about what they believe, a search for purpose, or grief that has shaken their sense of God. You don't need to have it all figured out. Many of the most meaningful conversations begin in exactly that place of uncertainty.
All backgrounds are welcome
We are Christian counselors, but our practice is open to everyone, and faith is never a requirement or a condition of care. If you're not religious, are exploring, or hold a different faith entirely, you'll still find a warm, respectful place here. We will never impose our beliefs on you. If you'd prefer that we leave spirituality out of our work, we'll simply offer the same skilled, compassionate clinical support — your comfort always comes first.
The counselors behind this work
Care here is provided by counselors who have spent their careers at the intersection of faith and mental health. Ginny Porowski, RN, MA, LCMHC is a licensed clinical mental health counselor with a nursing background and a holistic, whole-person approach to care — and she is currently accepting new clients. The practice was co-founded with Dr. James Porowski, PsyD, author of "With All My Mind: God's Design for Mental Wellness" and a faculty member for 25 years at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Their shared conviction is simple: faith and clinical excellence belong together, never in competition.
Applications — through a faith-friendly lens
Faith-based counseling isn't limited to "spiritual" topics. We help with the same everyday struggles any counselor would, viewed through a lens that respects your beliefs when you want that. That includes anxiety and the worry that crowds out peace, depression and the heaviness that can dim hope, the long road of grief and loss, and the work of strengthening a marriage or relationship. In each case, evidence-based methods do the clinical work, and your faith — when you choose to bring it in — adds meaning, comfort, and a deeper sense of hope.
Our approach & the practical details
We like to begin gently. Every relationship starts with a free 10-minute phone consultation — a low-pressure chance to share a little about what's going on, ask questions about how we work with faith, and decide whether we feel like the right fit. From there, individual sessions are $160 for 50 minutes. You can meet with us in person at our Raleigh office on Creedmoor Road, or by secure video telehealth from anywhere in North Carolina, whichever suits your life and schedule. Whatever role faith plays in your story, we'd be honored to walk alongside you.
