Website Privacy Policy

What this website collects, why we collect it, and how we handle it — in plain language.

Who we are

Family Life Resources is a private-pay counseling and coaching practice at 8218 Creedmoor Road, Suite 101, Raleigh, NC 27613. Our counselors are Ginny Porowski, RN, MA, LCMHC, and Dr. James Porowski, PsyD. This policy covers the website familyliferesources.com. Questions? Call or text 919-306-0207 or email info@familyliferesources.com.

What we collect

  • Contact form. Your first name and email (required), plus anything optional you add: last name, phone number, the topic you pick, and your message. We also record the date, time, and IP address of each submission to block spam and abuse. Each message is emailed to our practice inbox, and a copy is kept securely for our records.
  • Calls, emails, and texts. Whatever you choose to send us, along with your phone number or email address.
  • Pay Online page. Your name, email, phone, the service and amount, session type, and any notes; for gift cards, the recipient’s name and your message. Card details are typed into a secure form provided by Square and go directly to Square. Our website never sees or stores your card number. We keep a record of each payment.
  • New-client paperwork. If you become a client, our online paperwork collects what’s on the intake form (your contact details, date of birth, emergency contact, how you heard about us, and anything optional you add) and your signatures. To create a valid signature record, it also records the date, time, IP address, and browser of your submission. Your paperwork is encrypted as soon as it arrives, is never sent by email, and stays on the website only until Ginny saves it to your client record.
  • Spam protection. Our forms use Cloudflare Turnstile to tell people from bots. Cloudflare checks technical details such as your IP address and browser.
  • Website analytics. We use Google Analytics to see which pages are visited and how people find our site. It uses cookies to record the pages you view, your approximate location, your device and browser, and the site that sent you. It never receives anything you type into our forms, and it isn’t used on our new-client paperwork or payment pages. Google Signals and ad personalization are turned off. You can opt out with Google’s Analytics opt-out add-on or by blocking cookies in your browser.
  • Server logs. Our server automatically logs standard details for each visit: IP address, date and time, the page requested, the referring page, and browser type.

How we use it

  • To reply to your message or return your call.
  • To schedule consultations and appointments.
  • To process payments and gift cards and send confirmations.
  • To keep the site secure, block spam, and fix problems.

Please keep health details out of the website form

The contact form is for getting in touch, not for telling your story. Please don’t include details about your health, symptoms, diagnoses, or history in the form, payment notes, email, or texts. A short note like “I’d like to schedule a free consultation” is plenty. To share more, please call us.

Website messages are not for emergencies. If you are in crisis, call or text 988 (the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or call 911.

We don’t sell your information

We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we don’t share it with anyone for advertising.

Who we share it with

We share information only with service providers that help run the website, and only what they need:

  • Our email provider, which delivers form messages and payment confirmations.
  • Square, which processes card payments under its own privacy policy.
  • Cloudflare, which runs the Turnstile spam check.
  • Google, which provides Google Analytics (visit statistics only, never form contents).
  • Our website host, which runs the site.

We may also disclose information when the law requires it, (for example, a court order), or when needed to protect someone’s safety or the security of the site.

Email and text messages are not fully secure

Our website uses an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, but contact form messages reach us as regular email, and email and text messages are not fully secure: they can be misdirected, intercepted, or stored on devices outside our control. Please keep messages brief and leave out sensitive details.

How long we keep website messages

We keep contact form messages, payment records, and server logs only as long as needed to respond to you and for our records. Square keeps its own payment records under its own policies.

Children

Our website is written for adults. If you are under 18 and would like counseling, please ask a parent or guardian to contact us. We don’t knowingly collect information from children under 13 through the site. If you believe a child has sent us information online, contact us and we’ll delete it.

Your choices

You can ask what information you’ve sent us through the website, or ask us to correct or delete it. Call 919-306-0207 or email info@familyliferesources.com. We may need to keep some records, such as payment records, when the law requires it. You can also block or clear cookies in your browser settings.

Counseling records are covered separately

This policy covers this website only. If you become a client, the confidentiality and privacy practices that apply to your counseling and your records are explained to you in person when you begin.

Changes to this policy

If we update this policy, we’ll post the new version here and change the date below.
