Wendell has changed quickly over the last few years, and so have the lives of the people who call it home. Once a quiet eastern Wake County town built around a historic little downtown and its old tobacco-warehouse roots, Wendell is now one of the fastest-growing communities in the Triangle. The arrival of Wendell Falls brought thousands of new neighbors, fresh streets and front porches, and the particular kind of stress that comes with putting down roots in a place that is still finding its rhythm. At Family Life Resources, we help Wendell residents work through that transition — and everything else life brings — with warm, practical, faith-friendly counseling.
For most people here, the easiest way to begin is by secure video telehealth. You can meet with your counselor from your living room, your home office, or a parked car on a lunch break, with no drive into Raleigh and no time lost in US-64 traffic. Telehealth is available anywhere in North Carolina, which is a real relief for the many young families and dual-income households moving into Wendell who simply do not have an hour of windshield time to spare. If you would rather meet face to face, our office at 8218 Creedmoor Road in North Raleigh is about a 30 to 35 minute drive via US-64, and you are always welcome to blend in-person and online sessions however suits your week.
People reach out to us for a wide range of reasons, and we offer focused support for each:
- Marriage & couples counseling — for partners navigating a move, a new mortgage, or simply feeling like two ships passing in a busy season
- Anxiety counseling — for the worry, overwhelm, and racing thoughts that often surface during big life changes
- Depression therapy — for the heaviness and loss of motivation that can quietly settle in
- Grief & loss counseling — for the death of a loved one, a divorce, or any ending that needs room to be felt
- Christian counseling — faith-integrated support, always optional, for those who want it
We serve the whole eastern Wake County area — downtown Wendell and the new Wendell Falls neighborhoods, plus folks just up the road near Zebulon and over toward Knightdale. Whether your address is in 27591 or a bordering ZIP, you can be seen from wherever you are.
Your counselor is Ginny Porowski, RN, MA, LCMHC, who is currently accepting new clients. Ginny brings more than thirty years of experience and a holistic, unhurried style that many Wendell clients describe as feeling like talking with someone who genuinely has time for them. She listens first, moves at your pace, and tailors each session to what you actually need rather than a one-size-fits-all script.
Getting started is simple and low-pressure. Begin with a free 10-minute phone consultation so you can ask questions and get a feel for whether we are the right fit. We are a private-pay practice at $160 for a 50-minute session, with superbills available for out-of-network reimbursement and HSA or FSA cards accepted. Faith-based support is offered whenever you want it and never required — all are welcome here.
Wendell is growing into something special, and growth, even good growth, asks a lot of the people living through it. If you are feeling stretched thin, stuck, or simply ready to feel more like yourself, we would be glad to walk alongside you.
